Pelican blown off course rescued in Vancouver

Will he survive, the poor pelican? You bet the helican!

You know why? He's a pelican, not a pelicant !

"The Pelican"
written in 1910 by Dixon Lanier Merritt

A wonderful bird is the pelican,
His bill will hold more than his belican.
He can take in his beak
Food enough for a week,
But I'm damned if I see how the helican.

Dogs can drive a car
Topic: Cute

...but not very far.

Two poodle-mixes drive a pickup truck into a fence.  Great Danes might have fared better, they can reach the pedals.

How much fish can one cat carry?
Topic: Cute
We might never know but for the efforts of wacky Japanese TV.

Watch the weight (in gram) of the fish go up and the announcers start elimination rounds.

San Diego Union Tribune

Friday June 18 was the 17th running of the San Diego Hash House Harriers Red Dress Run. The rules are pretty simple: You want to run, you wear a red dress. Man or woman, you wear a red dress. There were nearly 2,000 runners willing -- some a little too willing -- to abide by the rules. The Red Dress Run is a fundraiser for Challenged Athletes Foundation.

Three-day-old bald eagle chicks, from left, Ele, Twila, and Sven are held by the hands of animal keeper Rachel Orlando Friday, April 2, 2004, at the San Francisco Zoo Avian Conservation Center in San Francisco. Hatched from DDT-contaminated eggs retrieved from wild nests on Santa Catalina Island, these chicks would probably have perished due to the thin egg shell associated with DDT contamination. The chicks will be placed back into wild nests next week where adult parents will raise them. Since 1991,the San Francisco Zoo's Bald Eagle Recovery Project has released 70 bald eagles on Santa Catalina Island and Santa Cruz Island, contributing to the recovery of this species in these areas. Twin giant panda babies Ryu-Hin and Shu-Hin climb atop their mother Mei-Mei, born in China, as they play at Adventure World in Shirahama, southwestern Japan February 20, 2004. The five-month-old male cubs are a rare case of twin pandas, neither of which has been abandoned by their mother, which is often the case, but instead are both lovingly nurtured, Adventure World said.
